Product arrived sooner than originally expected. Like other reviewers, I opened the box outside and brought the pieces in one at a time. I was able to build most of it on my own, with help connecting final end to the unit. Definitely need an extra pair of hands for assembly of this unit. Trim on highest shelf was damaged but I was able to glue it back on with liquid nails and 2 clamps. Touched up any glue marks with a touch up pen I had on hand. Love the final product. Using it in my newly decorated craft room to display books. The storage drawers are definitely a plus!We have a few pieces from this line of furniture and they are heavy sturdy pieces.The cabinet we just got was damaged but we made it work.This line does need to work on quality control and packaging.I love this cabinet. It is made of good solid wood, and I love the color and design. It was a little complicated to put together, but we finally did it.Look, I’m one of those weird people who actually likes putting furniture together. I’m normally good at it and find it relaxing. This is not my first shelf. This is the worst piece of furniture I’ve ever had the misfortune to have to put together.The directions are truly terrible. Multiple pieces did not quite align. It took far longer than it should have to put it together, and that was with me finally dragging the spouse into it. It would have been fairly awkward for one person to try to put it together.We spent significant amounts of time staring at diagrams and debating what they meant. Most of it wound up being trial and error.Most common phrases spoken: “You try it,” and “You want me to try it again?”The drawer slides are covered in grease. The bolts felt greasy and so did the rubber bands holding the bolts together.A screw fell out of one of the drawers. No idea where it came from or where it was supposed to go. I looked and none appeared to be missing.The connectors go in very hard to reach places with an allen wrench that doesn’t have sufficient room to turn. I had to get a lantern and stick my head inside, reaching upward, to get some of them done.Several pieces arrived slightly damaged. See photos. Judging by other reviews, could have been worse.The bolts and washers are all supposed to be the same size. Some washers were visibly different sizes and too large to fit into the holes. See photo. Easily removed/replaced, but clearly inconsistent quality control.One of the drawer fronts was glued on oddly with a gap between it and the side. See photo. It looks fine when put together and doesn't impede drawer movement.It does have a strong smell. I think it’s already fading after a day in an open room. Be careful with lighter colors of carpet and clothing, as stain definitely transferred to hands during assembly.Looks nice put together. Saved money purchasing here rather than from the store.I have never purchased furniture on-line . I buy a lot from amazon and I do read the reviews and I now am totally comfortable doing this again in the future based on reviews. I am skeptical and thought perhaps the reviews were not legit but they are for sure. This book shelf is super cut and exceeded my expectations in terms of quality. I used to buy all my furniture in hickory and high point Carolina where quality furniture was everything. I over spent for year thinking my taste would never change but I need to get rid of the grandma furniture and buy the new look. this same piece at Ashely was 699 or managers special of 450 during holidays. I really didn't think it was worth that amount but the price I paid I am super happy...if I decide I don't like after 5 years I didn't over spend. Amazon is highly recommended to price shop local furniture stores. I do agree with one review it has a very strong paint smell but that is the only downside.I’m so pleased with this purchase. It’s very sturdy, beautiful, and it looks great in my kitchen. Although it’s heavy, I easily put it together by myself. I get compliments on it all the time.This is a very good deal, too. I went to Ashley Furniture to buy it on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. They had it on sale for $600 plus tax, marked down from $1,200 (smh). The sales rep said he had to take care of a couple other customers then he’d be back to assist me. While waiting for him, I found it on Amazon for nearly half of the marked down price! I went home and placed the order and it was delivered on the morning of Labor Day! It came packaged very well and I couldn’t be happier with it.Product had 2 really big dent/scratches from shipment and 1 imperfection that was not the same color as the rest of the wood. I didnt send it back bc it wasnt in plain view. Deffinately needs to be shipped in smaller pieces to avoid damage but I love the display cabinet besides that.Great matching accent pieces to add to our dining room Ashley bolanburg furniture set. Shipping box is very big and heavy but packed really well with no damage to the furniture as I was nervous about ordering it online for that reason. Assembly was not terrible but directions are vague. Very happy with the quick delivery ordered and received in less then a week from CA
