The light from a banker's lamp is perfect for desk work, and unlike other task lamps it softly lights up the rest of the room. This particular one has a shade that looks kind of tobacco stained but I don't think it is noticeable.This is a very heavy, solidly made lamp...looks and feels way more expensive than it is. It's a perfect sized lamp for night table, desk or piano application. The pale cream shade can be adjusted to direct light. When looking for LED bulbs, make sure it's 800 lumen...that is the true 60 watt equivalent. I actually find 60W too bright for my needs and may go down to a 40W bulb. Very pleased with this lamp.I Thought I Was Purchasing The Bentley Of Desk Lamps, And After Taking It Out Of The Box, And Placing It On My Desk, I Discovered I Had Bought A Hyundai! The Lamp Is Pre-Molded, One Piece, Not In Pieces To Be Assembled And Is Not Level As Shown In My Photo Above. It Is Particularly Irritating Because you Are Always Staring At It When Seated At The Desk. Extremely disappointed, The First Item Purchased Through Amazon That I Was Not Happy With. ?WARNING?Avoid This Product At All Cost!Love the lamp. Fits stylistically with my antique roll top desk perfectly. Only qualm is that it isn't balanced well. Need to hold the base while pulling the chain or it tips.The shade on the lamp I received was brown, not cream as described. Kenroy makes a Chesapeake model that has an "amber" shade; that's a better description of the shade color I received. Sorry to have to return it, since the Mackinley lamp itself was nice.I was looking for a desk lamp, and the Mackinley Banker Lamp was all I wanted in one. It's attractive, easy to lift and the swivel shade allows the light to be focused where it is needed. I am very pleased with my purchase.Bought this for my daughters teacher desk at school and she loves it! Makes a nice soft light before her students arrive! Arrived in perfect condition!The lamp was as what I needed. Looks nice and functional.Love it. The shade of the light is really light so that means the lightened bulb would show more.
